Olivia Jenkins Presents Keynote Speech For The Strata Community Association NSW 2024 Conference
This week, Olivia Jenkins had the privilege of delivering a keynote address at the Strata Community Association NSW Conference in Sydney. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with industry leaders, share her journey, and spark conversations around leadership and impact.
From Humble Beginnings to Multi-Million Dollar Success
Reflecting on Olivia's own journey—from labeling bottles of rose hip oil around the kitchen table in her family’s business to leading multiple multi-million dollar companies and eventually founding her own consulting firm—one theme was clear:
Leadership isn’t about age, titles, or even years of experience. It’s about the impact you create.
Olivia built her speech around this idea, emphasising that real leadership is measured not by authority or rank, but by the difference you make in others’ lives and your ability to drive meaningful change.
Here’s What Olivia Shared with the Audience:
1. Lead Through Action, Not Words
Too many leaders talk a big game, but their actions don’t match up.
If your team is watching your every move (and they are), the real measure of your leadership is consistency:
- Do you show up when it matters?
- Are you transparent and fair?
- Do you uphold your commitments, even when no one is looking?
These are the actions that build trust, motivate teams, and set the standard. Your team won’t just listen to your words—they’ll mirror your behavior.
The takeaway? Be the kind of leader you’d want to follow.
2. Know Your Strengths (and Where You Need Help)
The Working Genius framework has transformed how Olivia approaches leadership. It’s based on six core strengths that each of us possesses to varying degrees: Wonder, Invention, Discernment, Galvanizing, Enablement, and Tenacity.
Understanding where you and your team members excel naturally can help you:
- Align roles with strengths for better productivity.
- Identify gaps that need support.
- Prevent burnout by avoiding misaligned tasks.
When leaders embrace their own strengths and weaknesses, it’s not a vulnerability—it’s a strategy. It allows them to build a team that complements their abilities and brings different strengths to the table.
3. Understand the 5 Levels of Leadership
Leadership isn’t static—it’s a journey.
The 5 Levels of Leadership framework is a powerful model to help leaders evaluate where they are and how to progress:
- Position: Leadership by title alone.
- Permission: People follow because they want to.
- Production: Results and success build credibility.
- People Development: Shifting focus to growing others.
- Pinnacle: Leadership by reputation and influence.
Too many leaders stop at level three—they focus solely on results. But the real impact begins when you invest in others. True influence comes when you actively develop other leaders.
4. Create Leaders, Not Followers
Olivia's favourite reminder to any leader: “Great leaders don’t create followers—they create more leaders.”
To her, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing clients or team members reach new levels of their potential. Leadership is about creating space for others to shine and empowering them to take the reins. It’s about fostering an environment where initiative is welcomed, not feared.
What's Your Leadership Legacy?
Olivia closed her keynote with a challenge: What legacy are you building through your leadership? Are you known for pushing others to think bigger, act bolder, and create more impact? Or are you just managing the status quo?
Because at the end of the day, titles fade, results can be surpassed, but the leaders you develop create ripples that last.
