Why I Use Asana Over Other Productivity Platforms
As a full-time business owner and mum of three, I’m always trying to figure out the most efficient, productive way to knock tasks off my to-do list and stay on top of upcoming projects. Things move pretty fast here at Olivia Jenkins Consulting, so one of my saving graces has been implementing the right systems in my business.
Before we jump in, I want to make a point of saying that while systems can be incredible timesavers, they only work if you actually use them. I can’t tell you how many great productivity platforms exist that I’ve tried out and didn’t continue to use because I didn’t find them particularly user-friendly OR felt like the learning curve would be too steep.
So, with that being said, let’s talk about my personal platform preference. It’s probably one you’ve heard about before, because let’s face it — everybody raves about Asana.
And for good reason!
Asana is a project management/productivity software that makes reducing all the clutter in your brain easier than ever. Asana allows you to organise endless projects in your business and share all the relevant info with your team, making communication and organisation a breeze.
I personally love Asana for a few reasons…
-
It’s simple and easy-to-use. In my opinion, there IS such a thing as too many features and capabilities. When you’re looking for a simple platform to help you manage your tasks, goals, and team, you don’t want to have to spend hours familiarising yourself with the system. After all, the goal is to save time, not lose more of it! Asana’s simple and straightforward interface allows you to create tasks, assign them to a team member, set a deadline, and even add sub-tasks that can be ticked off. The entire process is incredibly streamlined and easy to figure out.
-
It’s free! While you do need to upgrade to a paid plan for certain privacy features, you can still take full advantage of Asana’s main features using a Free plan.
-
It clears up space in your head. If you’re anything like me, your head is constantly full of new ideas, plans, and items on your to-do list that need to be checked off. Asana gives a home to all of those overwhelming thoughts and allows you to break them down into manageable tasks. Plus, it helps hold you and your team accountable to follow through on what needs to be done instead of mentally filing items away to be taken care of at a later date.
-
Saves space in your email inbox. Instead of going back-and-forth with your team about the status of a task or project, you can simply communicate via the comments & messages feature in Asana.
- Heaps of integrations are available if you want to connect Asana to another tool of your choice. Options include the ability to integrate with Slack, Dropbox, Microsoft Teams, Google Calendar, and SO many more.
The bottom line? Asana allows you to easily keep track of who on your team is doing what and by when.
There’s little to no learning curve, it saves you time and energy, and it makes for a much better collaborative experience for your team. I highly recommend it over the other productivity platforms out there for those reasons.
I’d love to know what your ride-or-die systems are in your business and why. Share with me in the comments!
